Lately, XVI-THE TOWER has come up in several readings. XVI-THE TOWER is associated with Uranus, planet of sudden and unpredictable changes. When this energy is prominent, sudden, often life-transforming events occur. While events associated with XVI-THE TOWER are not always disastrous, they often manifest in the form of apparent losses, painful disappointments and times of desperation and inner tension. Sometimes, when pulled in a reading along with the Tarot card that represents the Querent, XVI-THE TOWER foreshadows car accidents.
When the Hand of Fate delivers a blow that seems tragic and unfathomable, there may be some comfort in remembering that we often attract or create certain sets of circumstances either consciously or unconsciously because we need to experience such circumstances and work through them so we can grow and evolve.
When XVI-THE TOWER is pulled in a Reading that has to do with financial circumstances it generally reflects a disastrous situation either already in effect or just around the corner. It certainly would not indicate a lucky break or huge windfall. That suggestion would more likely come from X-WHEEL OF FORTUNE. Recently, a female, age 40 from Oregon wrote concerning a money problem. She is a single parent and college student and both her children have medical difficulties. Our Querent described a situation where her ability to continue her college education and feed and support her children was in dire straights because of money problems. Bill collectors are hounding her and credit problems apparently are ruling out the possibility of a financial loan. She is hoping some miraculous windfall will come her way to solve her problems. "I need a large amount of money soon," she states. "Will I get it?"
I pulled the following cards:

Note first we start the Reading off with a Major Arcana, and XVI-THE TOWER, at that. This suggests that first, the dynamics surrounding the situation are energized by forces beyond the Querent's immediate control, and second, that "there is no way out but through." XVI-THE TOWER is inescapable. A situation destroyed so it can be rebuilt anew is an appropriate comment here.
With XVI-THE TOWER in the Conscious Now position, we have a clear mirror of the disastrous financial situation in which our Querent finds herself. The situation has gone beyond the point of no return. Unless she comes to grips with the reality of her situation and is successful in her attempts to hold the credit hounds at bay, or find someone else to assume her financial obligations, she will likely be forced to quit school before she graduates. XVI-THE TOWER makes it perfectly clear there will be no winning the lottery to solve the problem.
KNIGHT OF DISKS in the Next Step position offers helpful advice. This card can refer to a professional financial advisor who could help our Querent sort out her financial situation and help her devise a plan to satisfy her creditors, support her children and continue her education. Discs is the suit of the material realm which incorporates money, finances, health and other tangible, material objects. KNIGHT OF DISKS suggests that our Querent should seek out the advice of a financial counselor/ consumer credit professional immediately. Many cities offer free consumer credit counseling and she should call the City to find out whether this service exists. She could also talk to the Financial Aid people at her college to see if the school provides such services to students.
With EIGHT OF DISKS in the Probable Outcome position, we see that time and patience are necessary to turn her financial situation around. EIGHT OF DISKS also suggests that our Querent must accept responsibility for her situation. This does not mean to blame herself. Responsibility is simply the ability to respond and EIGHT OF DISKS in the Probable Outcome position suggests that she has the ability to do so, with grace, under pressure.
Mary's Comments: Your transits indicate wishful thinking and a strong desire to escape your current difficulties. However, you cannot flee from the demands of material reality. I encourage you not to persist in longing for a magical solution to your problem. You cannot continue to avoid the debts and you cannot afford to waste energy on wishing for a windfall. Your credit must be restored and this will take time. Most creditors are happy to work out payment plans, especially if a Consumer Credit Agency recommends this course of action. A credit/ financial counselor may also be able to alert you to programs that provide assistance for parents with special needs children. Your school's Financial Aid office may be able to alert you to scholarships or grants available to parents such as yourself. There may be solutions you never dreamed existed, but your first step is to seek help from a skilled, professional consumer credit/ financial advisor who can help you get your financial situation back on track. Do not give up hope. You have what it takes to get through this difficult time.
Blessings,
Mary Hawkins
