As I have stated in my Intuitive Readings section, I do not tell fortunes or predict futures because I believe this practice disempowers the person asking the question. If you ask me, "Will I win the lottery?" or "Will my ex-partner return to me?" what does it really matter if I answer "Yes" or "No"? All I have accomplished is to set up certain expectations in your mind, maybe positive, maybe negative, and you may make unwise decisions or become falsely elated or hopelessly miserable because I have taken the responsibility of making your choices away from you. Aside from the bad karma I might accumulate doing this, all I have accomplished is to become your false prophet.
Instead, I prefer to use the Tarot to show you what you really need to know regarding your issue, problem or circumstance. In this way, I have shined a light so to speak and hopefully have given you the opportunity to approach your issue from another, more helpful, perspective.
Recently, a Soulscape Visitor wrote to ask whether her pursuit of a musical career would bring financial success. The cards that I pulled along with an assessment of her birth chart and transits brought issues to light that had little to do with her question. Now, I could have simply read the cards to give her a "Yes" or "No" (and the nature of the cards selected would favor a "Yes") --- but again, I simply do not operate that way! There are plenty of Readers and psychics who do predictions and tell futures, so if the Querent is unhappy with what I have to tell her, it is her choice and privilege to go elsewhere for a consultation that may better suit her needs.
Our Querent is a female, age 30, from Connecticut. She is a singer/songwriter who hopes to gain fame and fortune through her music. Her question is, "Will I be a great financial success in this field or is there something else I should be doing?"
I pulled the following cards:
XX - THE AEON |

A simple assessment indicates something like "Good judgment in business matters, something valuable to share, fulfillment of wishes."
But this is not what I intuited from the cards and to give our Querent the simplistic interpretation above and then walk away is not, in my opinion, serving her higher good or her best interests. So, Dear Querent, if you are reading this, grab a glass of water and your bottle of Advil because I have a feeling you are going to get more than you want to know.
Since we are doing this reading in the context of a Tarot Teacher lesson, I will be explaining the process as we go along. The first card represents The Conscious Now and explores what is really going on, or the Heart of the Matter. Sometimes this first card is completely literal. Other times it clearly reveals what is behind the situation. In this case, XX-AEON reflects what is behind the situation, or the Heart of the Matter. This card says nothing whatsoever about money or financial success. Instead, it advises our Querent to look at her situation from a higher perspective. It is a challenge to explore her goals to gain a deeper insight. On the surface, our Querent is concerned about money. I get the sense that if I told her, "No, this is the wrong profession for you, you will never get rich from this," she might channel her energies into some other career. XX-AEON represents the universal principle of good judgment used in both personal and professional situations. It refers to a long, indefinite period of time (an aeon). Therefore, our Querent needs to examine this issue in light of factors such as how long does she envision herself working towards this goal, her past ability to generate income from this work and the degree of her motivation to pursue this work despite challenges and obstacles.
The next card indicates The Next Step our Querent should consider taking. THREE OF CUPS / Abundance first and foremost addresses the emotions! The suit of Cups symbolizes the feelings and emotions and often its presence in a Reading indicates emotional considerations of which the Querent needs to be aware. In this position, THREE OF CUPS implies that perhaps our Querent should be giving some thought to what it is that truly brings her joy and pleasure and how she may best bring joy and pleasure to others. Simply working for money and/or fame rarely brings happiness. My question to her would be, do you do the music because you cannot NOT do the music? If her answer to this question is "Yes," then I would encourage her to pursue the music, regardless of apparent lack of money generation. There is a wonderful book called "Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow." Do you believe in yourself enough to follow this advice?
The final card is The Probable Outcome and it is XIX-THE SUN, the highest energy card in the Tarot Deck. In light of my interpretation of the previous two cards, XIX-THE SUN clearly supports that if our Querent will explore her circumstances from a higher perspective than the mundane money factor and if she will search her heart and feelings for the activity or profession that makes her heart sing, then she will be in a better position to manifest her heart's desire.
Mary's Comment: Regular Soulscape Visitors know that I usually point out factors intuited from other than the Tarot cards in these readings. This case is no exception. I cast our Querent's natal chart and transits to get a deeper glimpse into her Soul Essence. There are three things I would like to point out.
First, there are indications in her chart that she may have difficulty identifying with her emotions and feelings, that they may perhaps seem overwhelming and foreign to her. It would be more natural for her to put on an aloof, impersonal mask and others may even think she has a cold heart. This could not be further from the truth. Our Querent has strong Pisces energy with both Sun and Moon residing in that water sign. Pisces has the ability to be the most compassionate and unconditionally loving person in the Universe. Yet her chart indicates there are issues between self and others and she may have a difficult time understanding and identifying with other people. The fact that she has Leo on the cusp of her 7th House strengthens this assessment. The Ruler of Leo is the Sun and our Querent's Sun is in Pisces, further confirming that the way to successfully relate to others is through the compassionate, loving heart. Since the music industry (as many other professions) is largely dependent on networking with others, it would serve her well to ponder my comment.
Additionally, our Querent's chart shows a significantly high number of aspects that confirm her creativity and artistic (musical) talent. I can safely say our Querent was born to bring creative work to the world.
Finally, an important transit is in the process of occurring. Transiting Uranus is upon (conjunct) our Querent's Ascendant. (A transit is a planet's current position in relation to its position in the natal chart.) Uranus is the planet of sudden and abrupt change which can be either positive or negative. Uranus conjunct the Ascendant manifests as something that completely changes one's life, for better or worse, and whatever the manifestation, it is completely unanticipated. It's like getting hit out of the blue with a lightening bolt. Whatever the result of this transit -- and I do hope it is positive -- keep in mind that everything happens for a reason and there is a blessing in every circumstance.
(Personal note to our Querent: Uranus is your chart ruler since your Rising Sign is Aquarius and is thus an important planet for you. I would be most interested to hear how this transit affects you.)
Blessings,
Mary Hawkins
