Many of the requests for readings that I receive contain questions regarding love relationships. People want to know if a particular person is right for them, should they trust him or her, should they get involved. While the Tarot is certainly able to give clues regarding the nature and outcome of a love relationship, I prefer, whenever possible, to take a look at the birth charts of the two people involved. The harmonious and inharmonious aspects between each other's planets usually answer this type of question quite reliably.
Recently, a female, age 24 from Singapore wrote asking which man should she choose? She had known Man #1 for 8 years but revealed they always quarrel and argue. Recently, she met Man #2 and he seems nice but she is afraid to get involved. Her question is, "Which person is more suitable for me?"
Fortunately, our Querent provided her complete birth data (time, date, place) as well as the dates of birth of the two men. From that information I was able to cast Astro Compatibility Charts.
THE OLD BOYFRIEND:
Our Querent and her Old Boyfriend have some pretty good things going for them astrologically. She understands him, is tuned into him and has probably helped him go through many deep changes (her Sun trine his Pluto). She has been supportive. She has found him to be emotionally stimulating (her Moon conjunct his Uranus). She can discuss sensitive, personal issues with him (her Mercury trine his Pluto). He is supportive of her ambitions and drive (her Mars conjunct his Moon). There is lots of energy between them. The relationship is probably sexually satisfying (her Mars conjunct his Mars).
The challenges to the relationship are severe, however. Harsh words and arguments are common. He tends to irritate and get pushy. In turn, she may react by becoming sharply critical and saying things she later regrets. She may analyze his feelings and behavior to the point he feels she's driving him crazy (her Mercury square his Mars). His feelings get hurt a lot because he feels she doesn't appreciate him. She doesn't always give him the credit he thinks he is due. Then he may not be supportive of her and may withhold the nurturing she craves. This is a no-win situation (her Venus square his Moon). While there is a definite mutual attraction, it could often manifest as a love-hate relationship. She gets annoyed with his aggressive behavior. She doesn't like how he makes her feel. He feels unappreciated (her Venus square his Mars). She doesn't appreciate his decisions and seldom takes his advice (her Venus square his Jupiter). He may throw cold water at things that enthuse her, dampening her spirit and hurting her feelings. She doesn't take his problems seriously enough to suit him. He may tend to be restrictive, causing more tension (her Venus square his Saturn). The timing could off between the two of you. There is a lot of frustration here (her Mars opposite his Jupiter).
THE NEW BOYFRIEND:
Our Querent and the New Boyfriend also have some pretty good things going on for them astrologically, and not as many challenges. This is an easygoing relationship with plenty of give and take on both sides and little friction (her Sun trine his Sun). Communication between them is stimulating and smooth (her Sun trine his Mercury). She understands his deeper self, she's tuned in and sympathetic towards him. He puts her through a lot of changes but she loves it (her Sun trine his Pluto). She supports his values and ideals. She's his best fan. He appreciates her feelings and moods making her feel very valued. This is a nice arrangement (her Moon conjunct his Venus). Emotions run high between them but it's healthy. There is sexual attraction. This is probably a very active relationship and could also be a good working relationship (her Moon trine his Mars). She supports his independent streak (her Moon conjunct his Uranus). She finds it easy to talk to him and she thinks about him a lot. He encourages her mentally (her Mercury trine his Sun). This is a "Lovebirds" relationship -- there is real mutual admiration and they work well together, possibly due to shared ideals and values. They appreciate the same things in life (her Venus trine his Venus). This is a very romantic relationship. He senses your appreciation for his energy and basic sex appeal. He turns you on. There is a sense of healthy fun and good energy (her Venus conjunct his Mars).
The challenges to the relationship include the following: He needs to feel appreciated and if she doesn't let him know how much she appreciates him, it may hurt his feelings and cause him to withhold affection (her Venus square his Moon). Heavy feelings and drama will be a part of this relationship. Sometimes she may feel he is not supportive of her life's ambitions and she may find herself hurting his feelings again and again. If she lets this problem escalate, it will be a stormy relationship (her Mars opposite his Moon). She needs to understand that each of them will want to "take charge." If they don't take turns, they could wind up having endless arguments and hurt feelings (her Mars square his Mars).
MARY'S COMMENT:
Based on the Astro Compatibility Charts, it seems the New Boyfriend is more suitable for our Querent, as long as she is willing to work on neutralizing the challenging aspects. To confirm this, I pulled two Tarot cards -- one for Man #1 (Old Boyfriend) and one for Man #2 (New Boyfriend).

Man #1 (Old
Boyfriend) 2 OF SWORDS / Peace This card speaks of Peace of Mind and indicates a decision has just been made or will be made very soon. This card often deals with decisions about relationships which engender spiritual peace. Is this relationship with Man #1 bringing you inner peace? You can now come calmly to the right decisions. Examine your past, present and future in terms of this relationship. Will continuing this relationship assist or distract you from achieving peace of mind? Your answers to these questions will determine whether you should end the relationship with Man #1. |

MAN #2 (New
Boyfriend) 10 OF CUPS / Satiety Satiety means satisfaction and fulfillment. Everything is in its right place in harmonious order. This card suggests that regarding Man #2, you should let things develop by themselves. Everything comes to you at the right moment. The card suggests there is excellent potential for a love relationship with Man #2 if you allow things to develop naturally, and constructively deal with the challenges revealed to you by the Astro Compatibility Report. |
Blessings,
Mary Hawkins
