Which came first, the thoughts or the mood? Did an unpleasant thought catapult you into a bad mood, or did a gloomy, perhaps uncomfortable mood make you think disturbing, unpleasant thoughts? This is the situation Princess of Swords asks us to address. Known as "The Mood Fighter," Princess of Swords reminds us that a fresh intellectual clarity shakes everything up.
Have you ever been upset because you thought someone deliberately slighted you or embarrassed you only to later find out their behavior was completely unintentional and not malicious at all? Did you then "rethink" the situation, change your mind and find your mood lifting as a result? This is typical of Princess of Swords in action.
Every inner conflict you experience sets off your emotions, like a cloud of gray dust. But Princess of Swords does not let this gritty cloud clog up her clear vision. Instead, she uses her sword (the power of thought) to cut through the density of the emotions, exposing the Truth of the Matter. Princess of Swords refuses to let her moods take control over her.
The next time you are consumed by an unpleasant mood, see if you can determine what set it off. Like a detective, review the circumstances that led to the mood shift. Recall what happened that disturbed your equilibrium. "I was feeling just fine until ______ (fill in the blank)." Which person or what situation set you off? Once you pinpoint the situation or circumstance, you have the option to make a new choice as to how you will deal with it. Will you let someone's remark or behavior have Power over you? Will you let someone's opinion or careless comments ruin your day? This is Princess of Swords in action, behaving in a practical and effective way to keep her thoughts and visions clear and the ebb and flow of the various moods that wash over her under control.
Another practical application of the energy of Princess of Swords is to notice where the transiting Moon is in relation to its natal position. For example, my natal Moon is in Taurus, a grounded, physical, earthy sign. I have noticed that when the transiting Moon is in earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) or water (Cancer. Pisces, Scorpio) my emotions are relatively calm and stable. But watch out when the transiting Moon enters air (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra) or fire (Aries, Leo, Sagitarrius) signs! For some reason, Gemini especially sets me off! When my moods get the better of me, I usually check to see where the transiting Moon is and if it's in a sign that is incompatible with my Taurus Moon, I can at least know that in a few hours or a day or two at most, the disturbing influence will have passed. This helps put things into perspective, along with the exercise I gave you in the paragraph above.
If you are interested in learning more about Moon signs, Llewellyn publishes a great little book called The Moon Sign Book from which you can learn quickly where the transiting Moon is and how it may affect you at any given time. You can order the book at the Llewellyn website or from Amazon.com.
Blessings,
Mary Hawkins
