There is an astrological theory that in relationships, people tend to "give away" the planets they have in their natal 7th House (the House of Others/ Partners/ Marriage).
What does it mean to "give away" a planet? In this week's Lesson we will discuss that issue in terms of Venus and Mars, both of which are in the Querent's natal 7th House. We will see that Venus correlates with "Values" and Mars correlates with "Action."
The Querent is a female, age 31 from Utah. She is married but her feelings for her husband have changed and she has developed feelings for someone else. Now she is confused and doesn't know where to go from here. Her question is, "Where do I go from here with my life?"

In this three card spread, the first card represents The Conscious Now or The Heart of the Matter. It can literally reflect the Querent's current situation or point to something underneath the surface that is causing the confusion. In this case, NINE OF CUPS does both.
Known as "The Wish Card," NINE OF CUPS clearly mirrors our Querent's state of mind. She is wishing for relationship happiness -- something she apparently does not have with the husband any more. She is hoping to find this happiness with the new man, yet she feels confused and does not know what to do, where to go next. Looking at NINE OF CUPS from the Heart of the Matter perspective, I sense that our Querent may be engaged in "wishful thinking" that a new relationship will make her happy. Why is this wishful thinking? Because a relationship cannot "make" someone happy or fix all the problems in someone's life. There is a deeper issue to explore here as evidenced by the card in the Next Step position.
000-FUSION in the Next Step position points to need to identify and heal whatever it is that is causing the Querent's confusion. Once this is done, the Querent will be better able to choose where to go next in her life -- whether to end the current marriage, or stay and work out the issues. Since 000-FUSION is represented by Chiron, I suspect its positions in the natal chart and transits will give me the clues I need to make my recommendations to the Querent.
FOUR OF WANDS/ Completion is in the Probable Outcome position. It suggests that the Querent will address the issues suggested by 000-FUSION above and go on to complete and resolve one or both of the relationships in which she is currently involved.
Mary's Comment: Natally, the Querent has Venus and Mars in her 7th House of Relationships/ Partners/ Marriage. Venus represents values and Mars represents action. Chiron represents the archetype of the Wounded One/ One Who Wounds/ Wounded Healer. We find Chiron in the Querent's 2nd House of Values in the natal chart.
I sense the Querent needs to identify more of "who she is" and come to a sense of self awareness and self acceptance before she can make a good decision about what to do next in terms of relationships. Is she living her life for her husband, her potential lover or herself? Are her decisions based on what they may think or upon what she thinks? She may be seeking self worth through others. If so, she could spend her life seeking --but not finding-- the one special soul mate that she thinks will make her complete. To have the relationship she wants, she must first get in touch with her own values (take back her Venus) and become strong within herself (Mars). When she is aware of what she wants and what has meaning and value to her, then she will be able to attract a partner with whom she can have a successful relationship.
