There are two extra Major Arcana cards in the Crowley-Thoth Tarot Deck -- an additional Magician and an alternate Magus. According to research of others, the additional Magician correlates to 000-FUSION relating to Chiron and the alternate Magus correlates to 00-STARMAKER relating to the asteroid Persephone. It has been suggested these are the two "missing" or "rediscovered" archetypes of the Tarot.
I have been using the Crowley-Thoth Tarot Deck extensively for more than 12 years. I have yet to meet anyone working regularly with these two extra cards. While I have searched for more information about them, the "pickings are slim" to say the least. Because of this, I have been "forced" (a keyword for 000-FUSION, by the way) to construct my own ideas about them. (For those interested, I have written an article on 000-FUSION. In my experience, it is rare for 000-FUSION or 00-STARMAKER to appear in a reading. When they do, you can bet I pay attention!
As stated above, 000-FUSION is associated with the heavenly body Chiron which has been designated as a planet, asteroid and comet at various times since its discovery in 1977. Chiron has been depicted as the "Wounded Healer/ One Who Wounds/ Wounded One" and represents how we are wounded, how we wound others, and how ultimately, we may heal both self and others. When 000-FUSION appears in a reading, it almost invariably indicates that the Querent is somewhere in this three-fold process of wounding/ being wounded/ healing. Typically, the reading which contains 000-FUSION also gives clues to how to heal the wound or pain.
I have additionally found that 000-FUSION "forces" one to face up to the truth of the issue. It is difficult, almost impossible to remain in denial once Chiron has shown its face.
Recently a young girl, age 17 from British Columbia, Canada, wrote to me regarding an eating disorder that has been afflicting her life for four years. Because of it, many of her friends have turned away from her, and now she is realizing how much her family has been affected. Her question is, "Will I recover from this eating disorder and live like a normal teenager in the near future?"

With 000-FUSION falling in the Conscious Now position, it is easy to see how much pain our Querent is in. The card clearly mirrors the suffering she has been and continues to experience on the emotional, psychological and spiritual, as well as physical, levels. But to remind you -- 000-FUSION rarely shows up in a Tarot reading. When it does, it invariably indicates the Querent is ready to face the underlying issues causing the pain and wounding. If 000-FUSION does indeed correlate with Chiron, the Universal Principal of Healing and the keyword of "force," then it follows that in this position, 000-FUSION is clearly indicating that now is the time for our Querent to face the reality of her situation and agree to cooperate, rather than fight, the healing process. She has been going in circles. It is time to get off the merry-go-round.
XVII-THE STAR in the Next Step position offers two interpretations. On the surface, it deals with issues of self-esteem and confidence in one's ability to move effectively in their world. Psychology indicates that self-esteem issues play an important role in eating disorders. XVII-THE STAR in the Next Step Position would suggest that the Querent examine these issues to see how they may have influenced her thoughts, decisions and behavior regarding the eating disorder. The card also suggests, however, that the Querent take a long hard look at what she may be unconsciously creating, and why. XVII-THE STAR also illustrates the Universal Principle of Creation -- transforming thought into matter. Thought is a powerful energy. At some point in the past, the Querent "thought" that controlling her eating behaviors would lead to a desired outcome. Over time, the "thought" became flesh -- or lack thereof-- and she realized to her horror that what she had manifested was not at all what she "thought" she wanted. Now the task, or Next Step, is to clearly see what has been and continues to be created and maintained through the energy of thought. It is completely possible (and for healing purposes, mandatory) to remove attention and focus from thinking about outcomes she doesn't really want. "You get what you think about most." But only the Querent can change the focus.
SIX OF DISKS in the Probable Outcome position is highly encouraging. The suit of Disks is associated with the physical and material realm, and often speaks to health issues. The card reminds the Querent that success comes about through planned and committed effort. One must "plan the work" and "work the plan" to succeed. It is likely the health professionals have outlined recovery plans before. It is also likely the Querent did not commit to giving the plans a fair shake. The card encourages the Querent to discover and consciously commit to a plan that will allow her to recover her health. Interestingly, self confidence and self-acceptance --identified in the XVII-THE STAR above-- are the keys to real success.
Mary's Comment: The Querent's chart and transits show intense parent/authority issues, rebellion and control issues. Chiron, represented in this Tarot Reading by 000-FUSION, is strongly featured, both natally and in transit. There is likely a powerful conflict between conscious will and deep seated emotion. Yet her planetary positions show she has amazing strength and ability to fight and overcome dis-ease if only she can focus her will on healing. It is critically important for her to realize "It is up to me." Period. Only she has the power to make constructive changes in her life. She also has the ability to see "the writing on the wall." She can see what is going to happen if she chooses to continue down the path of dis-ease.
The dis-ease is not some force that has overtaken her although she likely believes it is something out of her control. Only she can change the direction. Sooner or later she must take action to begin creating a more effective and fulfilling life. If her life is to be better, she must create it herself. The planetary energies demanding attention to this issue will increase, forcing her to face this issue, one way or the other.
She likely has a great difficulty with the issue of lack of control. This perceived lack of control over her own life and health manifests as a desire to control others, likely parents and family. Despite conscious abhorrence of the disease and genuine conscious worry over the problems it is creating for friends and family, there is perhaps an inner satisfaction and feeling of power and control watching them react to her condition. On some level she may believe they deserve all the pain they are suffering due to her condition. What she may be "putting them through," however, is nothing compared to what she is putting herself through. Again, she must recognize the reality of the situation -- if she is to recover, it is truly up to her.
Her chart shows she has strong ability to give others the will to live where there was none, and to help others become aware of their own self worth. It would be helpful and healing for her to focus on helping others who perhaps are experiencing even more trauma and pain than she. Perhaps volunteer work with throw-away or abandoned children, or children who are terminally ill, or work with the elderly who have no families left to comfort and nurture them. She could bring them hope, healing and love and, in doing so, find to her delight that she is healing herself.
Healing is always initiated by the Intention to Heal. It is her responsibility to call that intention forth. While there are doctors and therapists and parents to help and support the process, only she can "will" the process into being.
Her desire to heal must not be negated by thoughts based on fear and defeat. She must guard against thinking such thoughts as "It's hopeless." ... "I'll never beat this." ... "I'm never going to get better." She also needs to address this question: "If I recover from this illness, what will I have to give up?" She needs to give this serious thought. Will she have to give up the attention this illness is bringing her? Who will she be if she is well and healthy and no one is paying attention to her? Will she have to give up her deep, perhaps subconscious desire to control her parents and punish them for what she believes they put her through several years ago? She needs to come face to face with all of the attitudes and beliefs she will have to give up to get better. I encourage her to ask her parents to find a therapist who deals with dis-ease in a holistic way to help her work these issues out. It would also be helpful for her to read "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise L. Hay.
